How much do Wedding Flowers cost?

Let’s start with the average wedding and florally thinking, what does that look like. We can divide this into 3 groups, Bridal, Ceremony and Reception.

1/ Bridal – Current Bridal parties generally consist of a Bridal Bouquet which naturally is the most important arrangement of the Wedding as it sets the tone for all arrangements.

A boutonniere for the groom. The current trend is 3 to 4 bridesmaids with corresponding groomsmen. Maybe a flower girl/ Paige boy or two and parents florals.

These arrangements are made with one top tier flower generally Roses and Middle tier flowers such as carnation, tulips, gyp, chrysanthemums and many other seasonal flowers.

For this group the medium price would be around $1500.

2/ Ceremony – Lets look at the most required items at your ceremony. Most arrangements used in the ceremony can be repurposed to the reception which is great news for your budget. They are only used in the ceremony for an average of 90 mins.

The ceremony arch/ arbour can take many forms and can vary in price from $1000 to $5000. I like to re purpose if possible the ceremony centre piece to the reception, bigger installations do not allow this as they are to difficult to reassemble, if you use a modest arbour, meadow arrangement or urns these can easily be used behind the bridal table or near the dance floor or cake stand.

A welcome to our wedding sign is also a lovely gesture with prices varying for arrangements either on the board or sitting on the floor.

Signing table arrangement is a long and low arrangement that can be repurposed to the bridal table and sits in front of the bride and groom.

Aisle flowers are a lovely decoration which can be repurposed to the reception.

A mid range price for ceremony florals is approximately $2000

3/ Reception Florals – Your most expensive group of arrangements for your wedding will be the table centres starting at around $150 each or $60 for 3 bud vases. These are the arrangements that your guests will sit in front for 4 to 5 hours, these need to look fabulous as the guests will have a close look at them. Bridal table arrangements come in at around $1000 if you are not repurposing your bridal arrangements.

Other Arrangements for the reception include cake decorations and an arrangement for your seating chart. For the reception I would allow $2500 for a guest count of 100.

4/ Delivery, Set down and Pack up fee – This fee encompasses the time spent and km’s covered to deliver and create the beautiful scene with flowers for your big day!

There is also a lot of behind the scenes work done by florists administration, sourcing and collecting flowers, there is around about 5 days of work involved in creating the beautiful scenes for your wedding.

We’re engaged now, What happens next?

Awesome! Yeah! Once the excitement is over it’s down to work to plan your Wedding, but where do you start.

Booking your date is probably most important, but you need to think a little first, what season do you want to get married in What flowers do you want to have, Venue and styling is most important, it’s worthwhile to work in reverse and and think about the outcome you are wanting What flowers What styling What season What sort of bridesmaids dresses Then find a few dates within your best season and look at venues to book

If your season is autumn, think grape vines changing colours or venues with deciduous trees.

Think dahlias, roses, chrysanthemums in beautiful deep colours and dark foliage such as ivy berry and cypress.

What is the process for booking a great florist for my wedding day?

What is the process for booking a great florist for my wedding day?

Its all about the research!!!

Then creating a great connection to get your ideas across, so your florist can capture the essence of your floral dreams.

Start with looking through inspiration pic’s through Pinterest, google or bridal magazines. (I like magazines, for me its tactile) Get some ideas together on your theme (type of Flowers and style) and requirements (how many bridesmaids or reception florals) for your special day.

Start with a google search of local florists to your area, check their google review’s, and choose 3 to enquire with.

Book a consultation for an idea and inspiration call, this is where the magic happens!!

Did you make a connection with the florist, did they get your vibe, do you think you could work with them to create your very own style?

At your consultation you might be offered an opportunity for the florist to quote for you. Quotes are generally valid for 7 days and then a deposit is expected to hold your date. Some florists offer presentations after a deposit has been paid, and you can work together to create your best day.

If your ready book a consult here or get our free book on how to order wedding flowers
